A FEW WORDS: A soldier, a father, a husband... a person who was not afraid to live, and not afraid to die. Known as Roger to many, he treated people right, he shared the little he had and had a loving heart. He will be missed...

ABOUT

Diagnosed with fibrosis of the lungs, he kept living, traveling, loving. A retired army veteran with over 28 years in the Canadian Forces, he served overseas in Germany, Cypress, and other far away places. After the army, he taught CPR and First Aid. He loved the water and grew up around camp fires and boats. He loved to ski and push the limits. Singing was a passion even if it was not him singing, he loved voices, music, and talent. Loving son of the late Murray Smith and Bertha Newman. Beloved husband to Georgette Belonoha. Dear father to Donald and Tracey Demaries-Smith, Murray Smith, Angelique and Lance Mohring, Wayne Belonoha and Amy Belonoha, and Ken Belonoha. Devoted grandfather to Chantal Smith, Holden Mohring, Amanda Wright, Phillippe Smith, Jesse Demaries-Smith, Leah Belle Mohring, Hanna Belonoha, and William Belonoha. Survived by his siblings Patricia Gregory, Eileen James, Beverly Toye, Calvin Smith, and Cindy MacWilliams. Roger will be sadly missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A retired army veteran with over 28 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces, he served overseas in Germany, Cypress and many other countries. Roger was also a successful business man and entrepreneur at heart, with many businesses over the last several decades. He took great pride teaching CPR and First Aid at Loyalist College and received many accolades and

Named after his father, Murray, he chose to be called by his second name, Roger.

Family Love

Roger loved to golf although he would never be a pro, he was happy just being himself. He was always there for his family and was always telling a story.

A soldier to the end

Roger had his best friend beside him, Georgette. She was his high school sweetheart and when lost his wife who passed in her 30's, he went and looked for Georgette. She also lost her spouse and for almost 40 years they have been side by side. Here is a great picture of them.
